Definition

Striae are beaded, longitudinal cytoplasmic strands that are enclosed together with an collar membranelle by the perilemma (Laval 1972, Laval- Peuto 1994). The term was introduced by Entz (1929) and more often used than the expressions “lames de revêtement” (Laval-Peuto et al. 1979) and “Deckplättchen” (Entz 1909b). Agatha and Riedel-Lorjé (2006)
