Diagnosis

Filamentous algae of small, sparsely ramified cells of small (12-20 µm) size with numerous, small chloroplasts and an excentric large nucleus. Reproduction either by fragmentation or by formation of small (15 - 12) Gymnodinium-like swarmers.
